Many families are preparing to celebrate the end of the school year, and for those who want to celebrate their students’ accomplishments after spending approximately 180 days in the classroom, here are some ways businesses can help.
Krispy Kreme, the popular specialty doughnut chain, is giving away a free doughnut for every “A” on a student’s report card.
There is a limit of six free doughnuts per student.
What we know:
Students in kindergarten through 12th grade who have an “A” grade are eligible for the doughnut giveaway.
Students must be in person during the event. Parents/guardians may not redeem the free doughnut on behalf of their students.
Students must show proof of grades, and transcripts must be from the current semester. Transcripts from previous semesters, progress reports, or midterm grades are not eligible, the company explains.
“This is a nationwide program that stays true to the brand’s consistent ‘sweetness’ and spirit of sharing joy, and Krispy Kreme is reminding and encouraging all of its stores to participate,” the company noted.
Chuck E. Cheese, the pizza and family entertainment center, has several rewards programs to celebrate kids and their educational path.
The incentives could help during the long summer days when the weather is hot and parents look for indoor opportunities to keep bored kids busy.
One of the programs is called “Get an ‘A’ Award.”
“Your child is doing well in school. Now’s the time to celebrate his hard-earned accomplishments with 10 Free Play Credits at Chuck E. Cheese!” the chain wrote on its website.
Kids can also earn other certificates, including a perfect attendance certificate and a certificate from a teacher recognizing excellent academic performance.
Each certificate is also worth 10 free play credits.
The certificates are valid until December 31, 2025.
Some restaurants are offering special deals to encourage students to read this summer. Pizza Hut has a long-running program called “Pre-order!”
It offers free single-topping personal pizzas to students who meet monthly goals set by their parents.
The nationwide program targets children in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade.
The program began June 1 and runs through August.
At participating stores, each qualifying child can receive a certificate, with up to five certificates per month for personal pan pizzas per family, a Pizza Hut spokesperson told KTVU.
Restaurant chain Red Robin also has an awards program to celebrate children’s achievements.
The “Superstar Award” is given to students 11 years old or younger in recognition of academic achievement, such as outstanding grades on a report card. Teachers can fill out an awards form to recognize outstanding students.
The coupon is good for a free kid’s entree, a side dish and a dine-in beverage.
“When you dine in, you can enjoy unlimited free refills on sides and beverages,” a Red Robin spokesperson told KTVU.
The program is limited to one offer per checkout and applies to adult dine-in orders.
Red Robin’s Teen Superstar Award is for older kids.
“Students ages 11 and up can receive a free appetizer, dessert or shake from their teacher in recognition of their academic achievement,” the restaurant chain said.
Red Robin also encourages summer reading with its Burger for Books program. Students who read five books and bring a Red Robin-printed, teacher-signed Burger for Books bookmark will receive a free kids’ meal.
