UPCROSS held its second annual “Donut Ride.” Riders formed groups to head to Lakenland for coffee and donuts. Participants also won a donut-shaped bicycle spoke charm.
UPCROSS will have more charms for riders at other events this season. You can try to collect the most charms to win special prizes.
The goal of the UPCROSS Donut Ride is to get everyone more involved in off-road biking. UPCROSS board member Kelly Berman said there are a lot of races in the area, and they can be daunting at times.
“It’s purely because of the group start or because the participants have been doing it for years. But here, everyone has more fun, whether you’ve been doing it for 20 years or it’s your second time,” Berman said.
Participants learned how to ride in larger groups and on different terrains. Berman said the cycling community is like a big family and is supportive.
