The Salvation Army celebrated National Donut Day today at the State Capitol.
The Salvation Army Emergency and Disaster Services team handed out free donuts. Donut Day was established by the Salvation Army in 1938 to honor soldiers who served in World War I. Today, the team came together to continue the service and celebrate the day.
“It’s a celebration called Donut Day, where we’re here to serve donuts and coffee to people who come to the Capitol and have a public relations day with them,” said Jim Strange, Captain of the Salvation Army Emergency Medical Services.
National Donut Day was last Friday, but it was celebrated today to serve state lawmakers.
