Fast-growing Shipley Do-Nuts, one of the largest doughnut and jelly roll brands in the U.S., will expand its national presence through a 30-unit development deal that will bring the brand to New Mexico and the Miami-Dade area of Florida, both new markets for Shipley.
The agreement with existing Shipley franchisee Vik Agrawal will bring 10 stores to Sandoval, Santa Fe, Bernalillo, Valencia, Torrance, Socorro, Lincoln, De Vaca, Guadalupe and San Miguel counties in New Mexico, and 20 stores to the Miami-Dade area. Shipley is expected to open one store in each state within the next 12 months.
Agrawal, a multi-unit franchise operator with nearly 20 years of experience, with approximately 100 stores under brands such as Church’s Chicken, Supercuts and Cost Cutters, owns one Shipley Do-Nuts store in Laredo, Texas, and has agreements in place to open five more stores in the Rio Grande Valley area.
“My first Shipley Do-Nuts store in Laredo has proven the business model works, and I am committed to rapidly growing the brand in New Mexico and South Florida,” said Agrawal.
“Shipley is a strong brand that is growing strongly as it continues to enter new markets and as people discover the magic of its product – which is simply the best tasting donut in the world.”
Founded in 1936 and headquartered in Houston, Shipley’s makes more than 60 varieties of fresh donuts by hand daily. These include the signature Original Frosted Donut (cut in Shipley’s signature hexagonal shape), as well as Filled Donuts, Iced Donuts, Cake Donuts, Bear Claw Donuts, Jam Donuts, Coffee Donuts and more.
“Vic is the ideal franchisee for Shipley, with his multi-store, multi-brand experience, growth mindset and operational infrastructure to open and operate stores in multiple markets,” said Jonathan Massey, Vice President of Franchising at Shipley.
We look forward to working with his team to bring a delicious experience to future fans in New Mexico and South Florida.”
