After about 40 years, a classic Boise doughnut shop is closing for good.
DK Donuts is officially closing its doors. Rumors of the closure began circulating last spring, but owner Angkearot Long told BoiseDev this year that DK Donuts had reached an agreement with its landlord to stay in the State St. location for another 10 years and would soon begin some renovations. It now appears that agreement is no longer in effect.
An employee at the store confirmed the closure to BoiseDev Thursday, and signs inside the store tell customers the last day is Oct. 27.
Long said the landlord required him to pay for upgrades to the building, including the heating and air conditioning system and the parking lot.
“It was too expensive to replace the parking lot,” he said.
The landlord gave them 30 days to move out, so Oct. 27 is the deadline. Long said they are working to open another location in Boise, but haven’t yet decided on a specific location.
