Happy Hour Donuts Expands to New Storefront in Colorado Springs

by Celia

Colorado Springs – Gabby and Ryan Main, the proprietors of Happy Hour Donuts, have embarked on an exciting new chapter in their entrepreneurial journey by opening a second storefront in Colorado Springs. The decision to expand their business came after facing job losses during the pandemic, prompting them to redirect their efforts towards their boozy and gourmet donut venture, which has since gained remarkable popularity.

The journey to this expansion began modestly, with the Mains initially operating solely through online orders since October 2020. Working out of their 800-square-foot apartment kitchen for over three years, they harbored ambitions of establishing a physical shop. Gabby Main, co-owner of Happy Hour Donuts, expressed their long-held desire, stating, “We always knew that we wanted to open a shop.”

Their dream materialized when they received the keys to their new storefront in June 2023. After an extensive search spanning over a year, the couple settled on a location at 6660 Delmonico Drive, Suite B, on the northwest side of town. Despite requiring significant renovation work, Gabby described it as the perfect spot for their business.

Following nearly a year of renovations and some delays due to kitchen construction, the Mains are thrilled to announce the grand opening of their new location on Saturday, May 18. Describing their efforts, Gabby highlighted the hands-on approach they took, including DIY renovations such as painting, installing new floors and countertops, and adorning the walls with murals by various artists.

The soft opening over Mother’s Day weekend exceeded their expectations, with a remarkable turnout of customers lining up around the corner. Selling out their donuts within minutes on both days, Gabby reflected on the overwhelming support, remarking, “So many people care about us and are coming to show support on our very first day.”

With plans to introduce new flavors, including the “Guava Margarita” and “Butterbeer,” catering to both alcoholic and non-alcoholic preferences, the Mains aim to cater to a wide audience. The grand opening on Saturday promises an array of delectable treats, with the timing dependent on the demand.

Looking ahead, the couple intends to maintain their presence at pop-up events and farmers markets while also offering catering services for weddings and large gatherings. The storefront will operate on Wednesdays through Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., with plans to expand hours in the future.

Gabby expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, emphasizing the journey from humble beginnings to the excitement surrounding their new venture. As they embark on this new chapter, the Mains are poised to delight customers with their irresistible gourmet donuts, ensuring that their delicious creations continue to be enjoyed by all.
