A Bellingham bakery cafe, which suffered damage from a car crashing through its front doors, resumed operations on Thursday morning, swiftly reopening its doors just days after the incident.

Slice of Heaven Bakery & Cafe reported that a vehicle collided with its patio area and storefront shortly after midnight on Monday. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported, including to the driver.

The collision caused extensive damage, including a large portion of a wall and most of the furnishings within the lobby, according to the bakery.

Although the bakery resumed operations on Thursday, the drive-through service will remain closed as staff members work to clean up debris left by the crash.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Slice of Heaven Bakery & Cafe expressed gratitude for the community’s patience and understanding during the aftermath of the accident. The bakery acknowledged the resilience of the community and emphasized the significant damage sustained by furnishings, many of which took months to acquire initially.

The post concluded with appreciation for ongoing support from the community during this challenging time.
