Celebrity chef Zac Young, owner of Sprinkletown Donuts & Ice Cream and creator of the famous dessert PieCaken, has announced a new version of the dessert for July 4 and other summer celebrations.
Chef Young baked the seasonal creations – red, white and blueberry. The four-in-one multi-layered dessert combines the season’s favorite flavors, including blueberry crumb cake, New York cherry cheesecake and red velvet cake, and is topped with lemon buttercream and blueberry pie filling. The dessert is available for delivery within the United States through Goldbelly.
PieCaken is a sweet version of turducken, a multi-layered dish that stuffs the chicken inside the duck and the duck inside the turkey.
For years, turkey and duck pie has been culturally celebrated, but Chef Young has taken it to the next level by turning it into a dessert.
In 2015, Chef Young teamed up with pastry chef Gian Martinez to invent the “dessert turkey duck pie.”
PieCaken features a pecan pie base, pumpkin pie in the middle, and spice cake on top, all layered with cinnamon buttercream and topped with apple pie filling.
Since the creation of PieCaken, Chef Young has continued to come up with other seasonal versions of the dessert, which are sold on Goldbelly through The Piecaken Bakeshop.
