After a temporary closure for renovations last month, the famed Carlo’s Bakery in Port Credit has reopened its doors with an innovative new concept, much to the delight of residents.
Speculation arose on social media when the bakery shuttered its operations in March, prompting concerns that it might have permanently ceased operations. A sign displayed at the location hinted at the possibility of a pizza restaurant taking its place.
Established in January 2022, Carlo’s Bakery, hailing from New Jersey, made its grand debut at 167 Lakeshore Rd. W. in Port Credit, marking its inaugural venture into the Canadian market.
The bakery quickly gained recognition for its signature rainbow cakes, including the chocolate fudge variant, alongside a delectable assortment of flavors such as carrot, cookies ‘n’ cream, red velvet, black and white, vanilla confetti, and chocolate fudge.
While apprehensions about the bakery being replaced by a pizza joint were partially justified, Carlo’s Bakery has indeed reopened with an entirely fresh culinary concept.
In an official statement on the Carlo’s Port Credit website, the management expressed their excitement about the reopening, following a brief hiatus aimed at refining their menu offerings. Acknowledging the feedback from the community, the bakery has diversified its offerings beyond its renowned baked treats to encompass a range of lunch and dinner options.
Introducing “Lago Pizza & Pasta,” a collaborative effort with local Mississauga Chef, Lino Dicecca, the bakery is set to embark on this new culinary journey.
Despite the evolution in concept, patrons can still indulge in Carlo’s Bakery classics, including cakes, cannoli, and lobster tails. Additionally, the establishment now boasts a full-service restaurant experience, featuring appetizers, salads, pizza, and pasta. For those on the go, sandwiches, salads, gelato, and coffee are available for grab-and-go convenience.
Operating hours for the Port Credit store have been updated to accommodate the expanded offerings, with doors open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Wednesday, extending to 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.
